Some companies are now using another
deceptive tactic to make it seem as
though they are keeping prices down, but in actuality you
are getting less for your
dollar.
The new trick is to shrink the package size of the
product. Luvs and Pampers,
for example, are putting 13% fewer diapers in the package,
but are selling it at the
same price. Fritos and Doritos are also shrinking the size
of their bags, thereby
cutting back on the amount of chips in each. These
companies are trying to appear
as though they are keeping pace the with market and not
raising prices, but the cost
is more to the consumer. Be sure to watch for "unit
pricing." And, remember that
bigger does not always mean cheaper, even when buying in
bulk |
