Be careful about making purchases overseas.  There are new and hidden
fees you need to know about.

Most every credit card issuer charge you a 1% fee to convert the foreign
currency amount of your purchase into a U.S.  dollar amount.  Select
companies will now add an additional 2% fee to each purchase.

Which companies are charging an extra 2% fee on purchases and on
overseas use of ATM's?  Here's the list, according to Bank Rate:
 City Bank
 Chase Manhattan
 First USA/Bank One
 Bank of America
 Providian
 Wells Fargo
 American Express

Which issuers are not charging the 2% surcharge?:
NBNA . Capital One . Fleet . Wachovia

Contact your credit card issuers in advance of your trip to determine
which plastic could save you money.
