Furniture
manufacturers and retailers are experiencing tough times. This gives consumers the potential to purchase furniture at bargain prices. Matatan gives this advice: Be aware that furniture retailers going out of business bring in liquidators that also bring along other merchandise not necessarily seen in the store before. The goods may not be of the same quality or calibur of other store lines. Sales of 70% to 80% off may be based on inflated sale prices. Comparison shop at other furniture stores to compare price and quality. Never use a check or pay cash for furniture deposits. Use only a major credit card. If your furniture is not delivered to your home within seven weeks, or 55 days from your order and deposit date, dispute the deposit charges in writing with your credit card issuer. If you fail to dispute the charges in writing by the 60th-day, you lose your chargeback privilege leaving you out of luck and without furniture. |
