There is no magic way
to remove negative marks and data from your credit report. There is no company that can magically improve the status of your credit report or make negative data disappear. The Detroit News recently reported on the many companies that claim they can clean up or repair poor credit reports. Most companies require consumers to pay hundreds of dollars as an up-front fee. Customers may only receive a booklet in return and no positive results on their credit report. The FTC (http://www.ftc.gov) has warned consumers of these credit cleaning companies that may only assign customers a number similar to a Social Security number. This doesn't work. The only effective way to remove credit report errors is to badger the three major credit bureaus to make it right. If you have had past credit problems, what is most important in moving ahead is to pay your current bills on time.
